Unfortunately we don't have any pictures of The Wog all trussed up for Thanksgiving Day, but here are some from our weekend trip to Connecticut.

10 THINGS THE WOG IS THANKFUL FOR
1. Grandparents
2. Dogs (particularly small ones named Piglet who let her--by this I mean "barely tolerate her"--walk them around the house on a leash for hours on end; also on The Wog's list of beloved animals are chicken and bunnies; when we sing "Old MacDonald" her farm is exclusively occupied by these three animals; this item also extends to include books about dogs, most especially "Harry the Dirty Dog," which she requests nightly at bedtime as "Dirty dog! Dirty dog!")
3. Oobi
4. Cupcakes
5. Tunnels (a new and compelling obsession--building, climbing through, identifying, talking about, etc.)
6. New shoes
7. Playgrounds (specifically, the swings and her father's smooth "underdog" maneuver)
8. Pacifiers (we're working on getting this one off the list for 2007)
9. Noodles ("Noon-els," but only if cooked by the mom who hosts our playgroup)
10. Post-bath, living room dance parties
Honorary Mentions: balloons; bubbles; animal sounds, particularly monkeys ("oo oo ah ah") and donkeys ("hee haw"); talking on the telephone ("phuh-phone"); "Corduroy" (not a doggy, chicken or bunny, but The Wog has been known to make an exception); oranges; swimming pools; the color purple; and drinking from a cup.
Happy Belated Thanksgiving from The Wog!

SHE'S GOT A LOT TO SEE, SHE'S GOT A LOT TO DO...
For the past several days The Wog has been fascinated with a kid's television program called Oobi. Here she is, watching the eponymous Oobi, Grandpoo and Uma:
The Wog has been busy lately, learning new words and phrases. One of her favorite new exclamations is, "I did it!" Usually she'll say this after she successfully buckles herself into her highchair. Usually before we head downstairs from her bedroom, I'll ask The Wog, "Do you want to walk, or do you want me to carry you?" She always emphatically responds, "Carry YOU!" We've been trying to determine whether she thinks there's actually a difference between "carry me" and "carry you." She also tells us quite clearly when it's time for bed. Her sleep schedule has been off slightly for the past few weeks so it's hard to know when she might feel like a little nap; the other day we got to the library at our usual time and she was dragging her feet on the way in. I told her, "It's Storytime!" and she instantly responded, "It's Sleepytime!"

A WITCH, A BUMBLEBEE AND A CHICKEN WALK INTO A BAR...
It wasn't a bar, but The Wog did attend a festive Halloween party on Tuesday night and had a great time.
Here she is, climbing into her coop. (You could tell she'd been in there hours later as the playpen was lined in feathers. She made herself a nest!):
Eating pretzels with a sweet little witch:
The bottom half of a candy corn looks on:
Scrubbing the floor with a conscientious bumblebee:
Checking out the cool pumpkin with Daddy:
And this post wraps up the Year of the Chicken. Happy Halloween until next year!

EVERYWOGGY LOVES A PARADE
Our library had a Halloween parade on Monday and The Wog participated in her chicken costume. Here she is visiting with Batgirl:
Lining up to march with her father:
Daddy, explaining what's going on.
Marching and more marching....
Following the parade, the library hosted a Halloween-themed storytime.
An attentive Wog:
The Wog enjoys being front and center.
We went back to the library on Wednesday for our regular story time. As we walked from the car to the building, one of The Wog's feathers flew by. She left a trail!

FAIR AND FOWL
The Wog was mistaken for various creatures/items in her Halloween costume. These included:
A chicken (what she was intended to be and what the costume was marketd as)
A goose
A duck
A canary
Big Bird
A pillow (my personal favorite)
You be the judge:
Despite the confusion, she still managed to take 3rd place in the local costume contest for kids 4 and Under at the community center. She may have one 3rd place, but she'll always be our Grade A Blue Ribbon winner. (There was some confusion when it came time to award the prizes, but we could hear the teen girls whispering, "The feathered chicken! The feathered chicken!" There were quite a few chickens in the bunch, but The Wog had the teen girl vote in the bag.)
Here she is mooching Smarties off a friendly little poodle:
Scoping out the scene (and the balloons):
Ribbon-winning chicken!
We attended another costume party over the weekend. The Wog got the hang of the concept of trick-or-treating pretty quickly:
Hanging with Daddy:
Pecking for prizes:
On the way home from the party, The Wog got her feathers in a ruffle because she wanted a cookie out of her trick-of-treat bag:
Last night The Wog attended a Halloween Party with her playgroup. Pictures coming soon...
