OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF WOGS

The Wog has a little pink "ipod" that plays a different tune for each of the Disney Princesses. (It's elevator music and has nothing to do with the actual Princess songs, but because there is a picture of each Princess on the toy, The Wog is pleased nonetheless.) The Wog does not call it an "ipod," however; she calls it an "earpod."

And my bathing beauties:

(The Wog would stay in the bath all day if we let her; The Doodle cannot get out fast enough.)

RIVER WOGGING

The dance class's costumes were not yet in during her official dress rehearsal, but they arrived today and had a mini-dress rehearsal during class. The Wog is front and center (by happenstance, not design) wearing the purple leotard under her tutu.

The Wog attends preschool with the sole little boy in the class and they always look for each other when it's time to hold hands and spin. The partnering is a free-for-all/grabwhoeverisnearest type of thing, but they seek each other out about 90% of the time. Yesterday after class she told me, "I want Riley to come to my birthday party." (Yes, it's in October, but The Wog plans ahead.) She continued, "He's my best friend!" I expressed surprise since they never interact at school. She finished, "He's not my friend at school. He's just my friend at dance class!"

WOG AND CIRCUMSTANCE

We attended a graduation in Providence (congratulations, Greg!!!) over the weekend and The Wog and The Doodle enjoyed the beautiful weather, company of relatives (especially the cousins--The Wog loves herself some cousins), and delicious food cooked by Grandma and the nice people at the Indian restaurant!

Alas, I have no pictures of the graduation itself (we were in the cheap seats; AKA where you sit when you have two active kids) but here are a few pictures.

The Wog took the chance to practice her ballet moves:

Signing "tree" with cousin Zaidoon while Olivia looks on:

Sitting pretty (and knowing it):

They rode in style. (Excuse The Wog's Basic Instinct moment.):

HOW THE WEST WAS 1, PART 2...

More pictures from The Doodle's big birthday weekend.

Birthday boy on the move! (He does not crawl but moves via something we refer to as--in a completely un-P.C. way--"the gimp". So here he is, gimping along!)

Sweet-faced:

Sweet-faced, too:

More celebrating:

The Wog and Minnie planted beautiful flowers. (The flowers held The Wog's attention almost as well as the worms did. She's a bug-loving little lady.)

The Doodle observed until the black flies forced us inside. (And yes, he rides in a fuchsia stroller; he's quite comfortable in his masculinity.):

HOW THE WEST WAS 1

The Doodle turned one today. More on that later, but for now some pictures.

"They all keep talking up this cake-stuff, but I don't see what all the fuss is about:"

Caught-in-the-act:

"Look mom! No hands!"

All of us: "Not the hair!"

The cake finally makes it into his mouth. Alas, The Doodle is not impressed. (He's a meat and potatoes man.)

The Wog was not to be out-eaten. (Unlike The Doodle, she is all about the cake.):

All this cake-eating makes a Doodle thirsty:

And oh-so-tired:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWEET BOY!

COOL AS A WOGCUMBER

Spring has arrived here in the North Country (tell that to Mount Washington, still capped in snow) and with it came The Wog's summer wardrobe. Here she is, showing off some ballet moves:

(Sunglasses are all the rage on the playground these days, and The Wog never leaves home without them.)

Also, some Wog-ecdotes:

The Wog and her father made me delicious peanut butter chocolate chip pancakes for Mother's Day. I thanked The Wog's father and told him they were the yummiest pancakes I'd ever had. The Wog pondered this and then sweetly said, "I helped Daddy. Don't you want to thank me too?" I do. Thanks to The Wog (and The Doodle) for pancakes and the billion other wonderful things they bring to my life every day.

We are trying to teach The Wog about making choices, but she still wants what she wants. The other day she was presented with two options: ice cream or a popsicle. She hemmed and hawed. I pressed her for an answer, "One or the other!" She thought it over and announced, "The other!"

LITTLE RED WOGON

Springtime is here, and that means picnics in the park!

The red wagon was some seriously cute entertainment, and the kids were great at alternating riding and pulling:

The Doodle wanted what was in that brown bag--a blueberry muffin!

A LILLIPUTIAN MOTHER'S DAY

The Wog's school held a Mother's Day Tea today which was cuter than a basketful of puppies. I was greeted at the door by The Wog, who was positively bubbling over (as you can see, I think, from the video) with excitement. She formally asked me where I wanted to sit, and then led me over to the table, where she served me up a semi-burnt muffin with, as she has been promising me for TWO WEEKS now, "two strawberries on it!" Here's their performance:

I COULD NOT LOVE THIS PICTURE MORE.

The Wog had the time of her life with Bee and Eva. I think it's clear from this picture:

(Bee is such a protective little Mother Hen, and I love that this picture shows that.)

And a little more Wog (I think she was having a sassy day):

EAST IS EAST AND THE DOODLE IS THE DOODLE

I got irrationally excited about posing The Doodle in front of this sign, until I realized that it's not all that unique for a sign to have the word "West" in it. But still. It was a good photo op:

This is his "fuggedaboutit" face:
