I've been blog-silent this week--the holidays have swept me away, and I haven't had a chance to download pictures. But a quick story, instead: the other morning, The Wog was lamenting a cut on her finger. When I asked how she got the cut, she told me it must have come from "the fly in [her] dream." I pressed her more information, and she explained that a fly had been chasing her in her dream, and had bitten her. Her father and I tried to explain that dreams are not real, and that she'd likely gotten the cut the previous day when she caught her finger in a drawer. When I put her to bed last night, she said, "I hope I have the rest of the dream about the fly." I asked her why, since it had obviously been--at least in part--an unpleasant dream. She responded that dreams weren't real and besides, "that part of the dream was over."

The Wog has been enjoying decorating the tree (ornament casualties to date=3; The Doodle:2; The Wog:1). We still have more decking to do, but in the meantime a few pictures:

A careful Wog:

The Wog was focused on decorating this portion--and only this portion--of the tree. It was hard to capture in a picture, but it is dense with ornaments.

A girl who loves her pink tree!

We partook of Pancakes with Santa on Saturday morning at our local community center. The Wog was all about St. Nick, but The Doodle took some coercing; Santa was willing to do his part.

Here Santa tries to entice The Doodle with a candy cane:

He got him!

The Doodle was much more comfortable chilling with the Head Elf. (AKA Santa's grandson).

The Wog also got in on the Santa love:

The Princess Posse:

More pictures and some video on its way!

Today was "Open House" at The Wog's dance class. The parents are invited to observe from inside the classroom, and even do a little dancing themselves! The kids take this event very seriously, and The Wog has been talking about it for weeks.

Awaiting instruction:

Tap Tap Tapping:

Doing their "ballet":

The Wog's "arabesque":

Practicing plies:

What next?

Dancing in her "low" space:

"Scooping air":

Accidental jazz hands (the name of my future rock band, fyi):

Carried away with delight:

The Wog has been watching lots of ballet movies and was trying to go en pointe. The teacher warned her that she'd "break her toes."

Strong and sharp!

The Princess Posse:

A Doodle keeps busy!

Daddy and the Doodle check out the action:

A surprise for the parents:
