AND NOW FOR THE SWIMSUIT PORTION OF THE COMPETITION

When I say the shoes never come off, I mean the shoes NEVER come off.

THE WOG AND THE DOODLE GO TAKE A HIKE

We went for a walk this morning with The Wog's friends Lily and Jett. The Doodle had company, too--the very adorable Cooper. (The Wog calls him "PheeBabyCooper," an amalgamation of "Baby," "Phoebe" (another baby friend of ours) and "Cooper").

From behind, The Wog and Lily are almost interchangeable. (The Wog is on the left.)

Friends 'till the end (or until one of them tires of the other--usually Lily of The Wog, who comes on pretty strong):

Waiting for a snack (the only time The Wog will sit still):

The Wog pretty much ran the entire path to the baths and back, and was so tired when we got home that she actually went upstairs and put herself to bed. A first!

HOW A PRINCESS RIDES A TRICYCLE

If The Wog had her way, she would not leave the house without 1)the pink sparkly shoes 2) a "bwand-new dwess" and 3) a tiara. Sometimes it's not worth the battle, which is how we found ourselves outside today wearing all three. I'm hoping she lightens up on the princess obsession before starting nursery school in two weeks, but it's not looking likely. Just this morning she looked at herself in the mirror (she can hardly tear herself away from any and all reflective surfaces) and proclaimed, "I'm a BEAUTIFUL princess!" I suppose I should be happy she has such a healthy self-esteem.

PRETENDING TO DRIVE A TRACTOR IS SERIOUS BUSINESS

The Wog had a chance to show off one of her favorite local stomping grounds to Minnie and Aunt MB on their recent visit. It seems very indulgent to me that our very reasonably priced season pass to Storyland allows us to go at least once a week, but why not? The Wog is gradually becoming more and more interested in the rides, and even went on the child-sized ferris wheel this week, which she calls the "balloons." Her favorite ride is the carousel or, as she says, "the horsies."

She loves driving the tractor, but takes the job very seriously:

Minnie and MB got to meet the Scarecrow, who The Wog adores. "AdorED" might be the more likely term as during lunch later that day, Pop-Pop concocted a story about a scheming Scarecrow who creeps up under the table and filches the shoes off the feet of badly behaved Wogs. Considering The Wog LOVES her shoes, I'm not sure how she'll feel about The Scarecrow the next time we see him. Here she is, dancing with him:

Here's The Wog, showing off the areformentioned beloved shoes to Cinderella. These are not theme-park appropriate footwear so I had to pack them in my bag so she could change into them when we got to the castle.

THE DOODLE GETS DUNKED

We held The Doodle's Baptism here in New Hampshire on Sunday, and were happy that many family members were able to be in attendance, but sad that others were missing. The Doodle enjoyed everything but the dunking. I don't have pictures from the actual ceremony yet, but here's what I do have from the brunch held afterwards at the lovely Eagle Mountain House.

CATCHING UP WITH THE DOODLE AND THE WOG

We've just returned from The Doodle's very first trip to New Jersey. He enjoyed himself, as did The Wog, who always loves going to Minnie and Pop-Pop's house. Unfortunately, the weather didn't really encourage much swimming time or a trip to Sesame Place, but we did get to visit with family, which is the most important thing.

The Doodle got to meet many new people, and The Wog got to reconnect. Here are just a few:

Aunt MB...

Gianine and Tim...

and Curious George!

The Wog had cake, but The Doodle did not (and apparently it did not bother him):

We also returned to the Japanese hibachi restaurant, where The Wog enjoyed the chopsticks but did not enjoy the onion volcano display. The Doodle, again, did not appear to care.

We then return to New Hampshire for further visiting with Minnie, Pop-Pop and Aunt MB, as well as The Doodle's baptism. Pictures are forthcoming!
