BEE AND EVA COME TO JACKSON!

The Lazur family made the 10-hour drive up to New Hampshire this past weekend and much fun ensued. Bee, Polly & sweet little Eva became fast friends. We split up for two different hikes on Saturday morning (long, boring story), experienced the disappointment of a closed Dairy Queen, went on a very loud train ride, and finally found decent pizza up here.

It was the year's first real fall weather, so Polly bundled up for her hike:

Bee enjoyed the train ride. Until she heard the horn.

Eva is a very snuggly baby, who enjoys her tasty fingers.

JERSEY WOG

The Wog has had a busy couple weeks. We spent several days in NJ with Minnie, Pop-Pop and Aunt Mary Beth. We got to visit with Great Aunt Gloria and Great Uncle Joe, Nanni and Aunt Bernie. It was a lot of excitement for one little Wog. She wore herself out, as evidenced by the pictures below.

Sleepy Wog...

Sleepier Wog...

Sleepiest Wog...

We knew she was REALLY tired when she didn't wake up during the transition to Minnie's arms.

A PULLING UP WOG

Since she started pulling up, The Wog cannot be stopped. She just moves from one piece of furniture to the next, over and over and over again. (The mattress makes a fine barricade.)

TEETH AND A BUSY DAY

The Wog woke up this morning with at least four teeth she did not have last night. No pictures yet, but I'm working on it.

The Wog had a very busy day today, aside from the massive teeth manifestation.

First, she wrangled a ferocious horse.

Then she scaled a high, high mountain.

Then she went into the mouth of the beast...

journeyed deep through its belly...

and came back out again!

Here she is, taking a minute to ponder her vast accomplishments.

THE GLAD HATTER

The Wog wears many hats. And by that I do not mean that she's multi-talented (but, of course, she is). No, The Wog literally wears many hats, and has done so since she was an itty bitty baby. They look particularly fetching on her.

Today was our first fall-ish day so The Wog and I headed out to the park. On our way we made our usual stop at the post office where a crowd (I'm not exaggerating--an actual CROWD) of people surrounded us to admire The Wog in her purple hat. (Hats off, by the way, to The Wog's Great Aunt Gloria, for this very cute addition to her hat wardrobe.) People were coming into the post office just to see The Wog in her hat because they'd heard the buzz outside on the sidewalk.

Was she deserving of their attentions? You be the judge.

We then proceeded to the park, where The Wog attempted to put grass, leaves, cellophane wrappers and many other inedible things in her mouth.

Here she is, stalking something delicious.

THE WOG TAKES A HIKE

The weather here was perfect over the weekend, so we went for a hike. The Wog enjoyed herself. (Except for a minor branch-in-the-face incident, but we won't talk about that.)

HAPPY. SINISTER. DELICIOUS.

The Wog's father is a very deep sleeper. He can also fall asleep very quickly--about as fast as he can polish off a sandwich, which is to say VERY fast. (I'm the opposite sort of sleeper--completely neurotic about requiring the perfect conditions and pretty much anything wakes me up.)

Marc's sleep habits have resulted in no small amount of entertainment for us throughout our marriage. Sometimes I wait until he is on the edge of sleep to grill him with questions because his sleep-blurred responses are always hysterical. One night a few years back I prodded him with the question, "Who do you love?" His answer was an emphatic, "Pizza!" Not quite the response I was expecting, I further prompted him with, "Who else do you love?" His enthusiastic answer was, "America!"

Another time when he was muttering away with no prompting from me; I could only make out one word, which sounded like "gaparoony." When I asked him what a "gaparoony" was, he snapped (irritated because this was clearly something anyone with half a brain would know), "Part Gap. Part Roony!"

I didn't realize Marc had already fallen into this state of semi-sleep last night when I asked him for the three words he thought best describe The Wog. (For some reason I often try to answer this question and I have a difficult time because there are so many words to describe her.) His immediate response? "Happy. Sinister. Delicious."

Well, two out of three isn't bad.

In honor of Marc's choices, I bring you:

Happy Wog.

Sinister Wog.

Delicious Wog.

[My choices, for the record, are spirited, willful, and shiny. Also charming, independent, winsome, stubborn, watchful, spunky, insouciant, squeaky-faced (courtesy of Minnie), playful, curious, sociable, delightful, elvish, expectant, contemplative, peaceable, funny, mischievous, wily, wiry, anticipatory, compact, eager, sunny, determined, attentive, analytical, hopeful, patient, impatient, busy, intense, optimistic, and true. And really, REALLY sweet.]
