HOUSTON WE HAVE WALKING!

The Doodle has been dabbling with walking for the past month or so but has taken off in the past week. He now walks as much as he gimps (our name for The Doodle's signature crawl), and is delighted by himself with each step. He's more drunken zombie than drunken sailor, and it is very cute. His father wants to give him a tea tray to carry around.

Much like the original Joey West, The Doodle believes that every meal should be shared with four-footed friends:

Well, hello there, handsome:

AND ON THE EIGHTH DAY THE WOG WORE...

(She is pet-sitting the "princess kitty" which belongs to her new BFF Arielle.)

...AND COUNTING

Day #6:

Today was a VERY exciting day for The Wog as she got a lift to school with her friend Lily. Nothing is as exciting to The Wog (okay, maybe a cupcake with pink frosting) as riding in other people's cars. It was the last thing she talked about at bedtime and the first topic of conversation when she woke up this morning. They were going to listen to something called "Rock Monster." But don't worry, as The Wog explained, The Rock Monster does not live in New Hampshire; he only lives on the television and in radios. Whew!

WHOSE SHROOMING WHO?

On the hunt for wild mushrooms at Diana's Baths:

Inspecting:

A literal representation of "pick[ing] your poison":

Excited about a discovery:

We kept the mushrooms away from The Doodle who clearly thought they looked tasty:

A bounty!

Stopping for a (non-fungal) snack:

We were having dinner with friends recently when The Wog randomly declared, "Austin, my Daddy eat{sic} all my food." Here he is, true to form:

A close-up:

They made peace despite the food thievery:

Mushroom hunting is hard work:

The Wog loves to balance!

Like a tight rope walker with a parasol:

More balancing:

Listening quietly for the waterfall:

These little piggies went swimming!

Keeping cozy on the way home:

THE WOG KICKS IT OLDSKOOL

Continuing The Wog's daily pre-school photo shoot:

Day 3 on which a woman at the grocery store commented that she looked like a candy corn. (I've chosen to take that as a compliment.):

Day 4 (cold!):

Day 5 (warm again):

WOG IN A BOX

Our modem broke on Wednesday so I have been without internet; I know readers (Hi Minnie!) have been missing The Wog's daily wardrobe report. Alas, they are on the other camera and haven't yet been downloaded, but here are a few from The Wog's playdate with Lily earlier today.

Step 1: Cut a hole in a box
Step 2: Put your Wog in that box:

They spent a good hour in this box: decorating, attempting (unsuccessfully) to keep The Doodle out, and then, finally, blasting off in their spaceship! (This box has also been a boat, a school bus, and The Wog's favorite generic hiding place.)

The Wog and Lily had lunch:

And then they got silly!

The Doodle, meanwhile, did some light reading:

And then tried to make his escape through several different routes. By floor:

By door:

And by Barbie-mobile:

(He's riding on a pink car; that's his "don't mess with The Doodle" face.)

I enticed him back with a popsicle. If you haven't had the pleasure of being around The Doodle when he is eating something he finds absolutely delightful, this is his "mmmmmmm" face:
