A TURKEY AND A CHEESEBALL

No, I'm not talking about The Wog and The Doodle, but the snack we made for The Wog's preschool Thanksgiving celebration tomorrow.

The Wog's father said this sounded nasty, but I made him want to eat his words.

THE WOG DISCOVERS THAT LOVE OF PIE IS AN INHERITED TRAIT

We celebrated Thanksgiving with Memaire at her home over the weekend. The Wog got her first taste of pumpkin pie, and it was a hit! (She must get her pie-love from her great-grandmother...) The Doodle (when he wasn't asleep) enjoyed flirting with all the ladies.

WOGS SAY THE FUNNIEST THINGS

This morning The Wog was quietly playing with her Cinderella dolls (they're more like "action figures," but where's the action?). Most of the dolls were on the floor, but she very deliberately put Anastasia and Drusilla on the raised stair by our mantel. When I asked why she was putting them there, she emphatically responded, "They're the stepsisters. They go on the step."

A PRINCE AMONG DOODLES

When I left the room, The Doodle was sitting in his Bumbo. When I returned to the room, he was sitting in his Bumbo wearing this:

(The Wog may not be in the picture, but her handiwork clearly is.)

The Doodle then proved he is comfortable enough in his masculinity to chill in this chair:

THE WOG HAS A (PLAY)DATE

The Wog's good friend Lily (sporting an adorable new haircut) came over this morning to play and they had a great time. Luckily, Lily is very good at cleaning up after herself, and The Wog is good at following Lily around, so it worked out quite nicely.

Lily and The Wog are playmates at school, and they are (aside from one other little boy) the youngest in their class. They have become allies in getting what they want and need. Lily is a quiet planner and plotter, while The Wog can be loud and impetuous. So Lily decides what they're going to do, and The Wog demands that they're able to do it...it's a formula that works. (When I commented to Lily's mother on their dynamic--that Lily seems to be the alpha girl while The Wog is more the follower--she suggested that a better word for The Wog might be "agreeable." I agree.)

The Doodle likes hanging with the ladies:

Eating snacks on their "thrones." (Lily came up with that one.):

A big hug from The Wog is tolerated, but just barely:

HOW TO BE THE DOODLE (AND A BONUS VIDEO!)

Tongue out?

Check!

Trail of drool down front of onesie?

Check!

Hat with ears?

Check!

Yup, that's The Doodle!

I took some video earlier today because I wanted to capture how amazed The Doodle is by balloons; note his sweetly clasped hands. Several other things are apparent after watching this 60 second or so video, including the following: 1.) The Wog is incredibly sweet to The Doodle. 2.)The Wog is obsessed with telling time. (And it's "20 after seven" somewhere in the world right now, isn't it?) and 3.) Keeping my children besocked is turning out to be one of life's biggest challenges. (And I know, grandmothers everywhere are shaking their heads in outrage and dismay.)

(I know it's sideways! I'm working on it!)
