"OH NO, MY PURSE!"

The Wog received a Cinderella Barbie and a purse (amongst other things like books and clothes and stickers--she is beloved!) from her Minnie and Pop-Pop for Valentine's Day. She has been stuffing the purse with anything and everything she can find; as her father pointed out, she probably thinks that's what you do with a purse, based on the contents of mine. Sometimes naked Barbie fits in the purse (because she's always naked), but sometimes she doesn't make the cut, and gets stuffed in a boot instead.

The Wog received this care package on Saturday morning and has pretty much had either the purse, the Barbie, or both with her at all times. She calls the Barbie her "princess." And if she realizes she's without one or the other she is prone to exclaiming with great concern, "Oh no! My purse! (pronounced "pursh")"

(This is not the finest representation of the status of our living room, but--alas--it is likely the most accurate.)

(NON)STILL LIFE WITH (MANDARIN) ORANGES

The Wog loves her mandarin oranges. Notice how she's clutching the container. While she knows the specific names for many fruits--whole oranges ("on-jan-jas"), grapes, bananas, apples, etc.--she has some confusion when it comes to the packaged mandarin oranges; she thinks these, and these alone, are "fruit." We are trying to convince her otherwise.

These pictures are taken pre-Storytime, when I'm trying to fill her up with as much food as possible to prevent her from going around begging food off of all the other mothers. It never works. Some of these pictures were taken pre-oranges and some taken post-oranges; luckily, the Mac's software allows me to digitally remove the orange chunks from her chin!

"GO SLEEP!.....WAKE UP!"

The Wog's new favorite game (aside from "Tickle me!") is "Go sleep!...Wake up!" If she finds me or her father having a little rest on the couch, she commands us to "Go sleep!" We close our eyes upon which she immediately demands, "Wake up!" This game can go on forever, and The Wog is quite a little task master about it. Here she is, engaged in a rousing game of "Go sleep....Wake up!" with her father.

In these pictures, she inspects his eyes closely to make sure he's really "asleep."

Mid-"Wake up!":

WOGGY LOU RETTON

The Wog attended her very first gymnastics class this morning! I couldn't handle the camera during the class (maybe one of these weeks) but I took some pictures of her stretching in preparation before we left. She loved the class! She balanced on the beam, swung (with some help) from a rope, walked over the mini-vault, and bounced on the little trampoline. We're already looking forward to next week's class!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, A MONTH LATE

The Wog's father pointed out to me that we never posted our favorite shots from The Wog's photo shoot. So, a month late, here they are:

A LITTLE PERSON AND HER LITTLE PEOPLE

The Wog got lots of Little People for Christmas and has been enjoying them. We've been slowly unboxing them and giving them to her, so she has time to appreciate the new toy before moving on. We opened her "Sweet Sounds" home the other morning; here she is, giving it her full attention:

THE WOG AND HER SHADOW

The Wog casts a really long shadow out in the snow on a sunny day! We headed out to the little skating rink in the village of our town on Sunday. We were debating taking The Wog out on the ice (a clarification: The Wog's father was debating taking her out on the ice, while I was planning on standing watch) but it looked a little rough and tumble out there. So instead she played in the snow and seems to, thankfully, be blessed with her father's balance and not mine!

Looking at birds:

She called this, "climbing the mountain":

The Wog ran directly at the flagpole, paused, and then came tearing back at us in horror, yelling that it's "Too big! Too big!" I guess it freaked her out!

As usual, when The Wog is out and about town, she made a friend!
