...ONE IS SILVER AND THE OTHER GOLD

The Wog and The Doodle had a chance to make some new friends this weekend while their father and I kept up with some old ones. Krissy, Justin and their delightful children Jackson, Grace and Madison visited with us at Storyland, and we had an excellent time.

The Wog and Birthday Girl Grace (she of the most beautiful blonde, curly hair) were immediate fast friends. Here they are on their way--it was like we weren't even there.

The Wog loved Gracie so much that she willingly shared her lemonade:

Handsome Jackson looks so much like his father! (Not a good picture, but there he is wearing the navy t-shirt at the top of this one.)

We are so happy to have had the chance to catch up with all the Olivers. Krissy and I shared many laughs, chicken dances, pool lengths, and a beloved pair of tapered leg (with zipper!) white Guess jeans back in the day. I am hopeful for another visit before eight (can it be? alas, it can...) more years pass.

Oh, and hello, Mr. and Mrs. Auns! Congratulations on your beautiful grandchildren!

ONE WAY OF SLEEPING...

When I clean The Wog's room, I put her chair up on her bed. After camp today, she put herself down for nap. When I went up to check on her, I found this:

THE WOG, HER MAMA & DIANA

The Wog and I took a little Ladies Hike this morning to Diana's Baths while Daddy and The Doodle spent some quality male bonding together.

She wanted to stop and "climb" every single rock:

Halfway back she got tired and started hamming it up:

HAPPY 5TH OF JULY!

We had a great day yesterday of parades and parties! While we didn't actually make it through to any fireworks, The Wog and The Doodle had a great day celebrating America's birthday. (The Wog: "Who's America? Will she be at the party?")

The Wog and Lily at the parade. When The Wog realized actual CANDY was being thrown from the floats, she just about lost it:

LICK BATTER BATTER BATTER BATTER BATTER LICK!

The Wog and I made 4th of July cupcakes for the BBQ we attended. Here she is helping "clean up:"

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF WOGS, PART III

The Wog: "Mama, why you cut your hair short?"
Me: "'Because I needed a haircut."
The Wog: "You took a shortcut!"

(On a hot day in a hot car:)
The Wog: "Mama, will you please turn on my window? I'm sweltering back here!"
