The Wog became a big sister to The Golden Pig on Tuesday, May 15th. So far she has taken to the role with great enthusiasm and self-importance. She adores her "baby brothuh" and talks about him constantly.
The Wog helped out her father with yardwork today...until the black flies decided it was time for a meal. She loves to pick dandelions, and shows one off in the last photo.
The Wog's father and I were just talking this morning about how today is Polly's last Tuesday as an only child. In our hearts we know that having a sibling is ultimately a gift, but we also know that The Wog might not initially agree. Two of her playgroup friends recently became a big brother and big sister, so that has been good for The Wog; she shows a definite but limited interest in these sweet babies, and will continue to benefit from watching them interact with the world in new ways. But there's really no way to prepare her for what's headed in her direction.
We are excited for the arrival of the Golden Pig and know that The Wog will grow into a delighted, delightful big sister, but for now our priority is that she continue on her happy little way.
On our way out to the playground today, we detoured to the little creek that runs behind our house. The Wog talked on and on about the "waterfall." (As you can see in the pictures, she insisted in carrying her pink "baby balloon" with her while we walked.)
She then acted sweet while trying to hit me with a big stick.
I have no new pictures of The wog this morning--I'm hoping to take some later. But until then, a quick Wog story. The weather is finally changing here--it's been warm (for New Hampshire) and bright outside. This morning The Wog's father put her in her high chair while he popped a waffle (the first of three!) into the toaster for The Wog. There was a strong glare coming in from outside. The Wog sweetly asked, "Daddy, turn off the sun? Daddy, turn off the sun PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!"
